FAIRMONT - Funeral services for John Michael Marushin III, 53, of Fairmont, Minn., will be Monday, February 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, 2009, from 2-5 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and again one hour prior to the time of service on Monday at the Grace Lutheran Church.

John passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at the St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

John Michael Marushin III was born on September 26, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of John Jr. and Ellen (Itzen) Marushin. He began his education attending school in Minneapolis before the family moved to Granada, Minn., where he also attended school.

Following his education, John began working for Harsco Track Technologies in the Welding Department. He continued his work there for over 35 years and was still currently employed.

On October 3, 1998, John was united in marriage to Lynn Mutch at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn. Together, the couple made their home in Fairmont. In his spare time, John enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman, and went on many camping, snowmobile, and fishing trips to the river. John treasured time spent with family, especially spoiling his grandchildren. Friends were also very important to John, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand for anyone in need. John loved to fix things and could be found tinkering on anything that needed fixing. He had a passion for racing and cherished memories made working with the crew. John had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as a jokester both at work and at home. He will be greatly missed by those that loved him and called him friend.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lynn Marushin; children, Chad Marushin and wife, Heather, Tracey Owens and husband, Aric, and Lucas Ebeling and fianc Sam Wenzel; five grandchildren, Ashley Owens, Alexis Owens, Tyler Owens, Gracie Marushin, and BayLee Marushin; two brothers, Joe Marushin and wife Carla, and Jim Marushin and wife, Lori; two sisters, Cindy Turcott and husband, Will and Candace Shahan; mother-in-law, Mary Hubbard, sister-in-law, Kathy Cockrum and husband, Mike; brother-in-law, Dan Mutch and wife, Cheryl; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
