Marie lived her life believing "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam." Our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandma and sister was lost to Dementia several months ago while living in Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Now a heavenly birthday perfects her.

Marie Catherine Meyer was born in White Lake, S.D., on November 26, 1910, to Jesse Bach and J.O. Meyer. She graduated from Wesleyan Normal School in 1929, and began teaching County School, with brother, Robert in attendance. After six years of teaching, and severe drought, newlyweds, Leonard and Marie Tumbleson sold the farm and began as hired man and house help for the Olson family in the Odin, Minn., area. They later rented a farm in Section #9 of Elm Creek Township, birthed four sons and purchased a farm in Section #9 from Pete Redding in 1952. Marie loved working with chickens, pigs, cows, and sheep (Leonard sold the sheep when Ken was born). Sheep were then replaced by peacocks to begin selling pairs even to zoo. She enjoyed the outdoors and farming so much that when farm hands were needed she hired house help. As a women of strength and passion she was a Star Award recipient for UMW, Key Lady at Lakeview, PTA President, Outstanding Senior Citizen for Martin County, member of the Garden Club, and involved in the Adopt a Grandparent program. She also organized trips to Sioux Falls for Senior Citizens, Farmers Union Secretary and organized a "Powderpuff Fly In" to Washington, D.C., when Hubert Humphrey was in office. As a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, all babies at the Trimont Hospital received knit caps from her. Grandchildren received booties, caps, crocheted wedding scarves, and bookmark crosses. The Community loved the apple and rhubarb crisps, and Grandma buns shared in the event of a death, birth, hospital stay, or graduation and even when lst grades came for the farm trip. Moving to Trimont from the farm brought new friends to play more cards and a time to travel on Farmers Union bus trips and meeting more new friends. Marie gardened until moving to assisted living in Fairmont with Leonard. There they met new friends and played more new card games and learned more jokes. Leonard passed away on September 8, 2001. Marie continued making her home in Fairmont.

Those privileged to be family are her four sons, M.E. Tumbleson of Tolono, Ill., and children, Elise (Jim) Sabaski, Ellen (Ricky) Dutton, Eric (deceased) (Heidi) Tumbleson; Linus and Sharon Tumbleson of Redmond, Wash., and children, Lee (Kari) Tumbleson and Lori (Neal) Leadly; Gerald and Joanne Tumbleson of rural Sherburn, Minn., and children, Trace (Stephanie) Tumbleson, Thad (Amy) Tumbleson and Trent (Melissa) Tumbleson; Ken and Anita Tumbleson of Fairmont, Minn., and children, Brenda (Tom) Whitehead and Becky (Mitchell) Anderson; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brother, Robert and wife, Joyce Meyer of Miller, S.D.; sister-in-law, Jo Meyer of Winona, Minn.; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

In Remembrance.

Life is a glorious banquet,

A limitless and delicious buffet.
