A-R's Leach fires 2-hitter at North Iowa

BUFFALO CENTER, Iowa — Morgan Grabinoski and Logan Evans combined for five hits from the batter’s box, while Amy Leach fired a two-hitter to propel the Armstrong-Ringsted Mustangs to a 10-0 softball victory over North Iowa on Thursday night.

Leach recorded 13 strikeouts and issued three walks in six shutout innings of work to earn the complete-game win.

Grabinoski went 2-for-4 with a game-leading three RBIs in the nonconference contest, while Evans topped all batters with three hits.

April Gunderson doubled, Leach and Bri Gonzales each supplied RBI singles, while Megan Sander and Brittney Mitchell each chipped in a hit for the maroon-and-gold.

Armstrong-Ringsted (7-1, 3-1 Corn Belt) travels to Corwith-Wesley-Luverne tonight.

North Sentral Kossuth 12, Harris-Lake Park 0 — Jayna Blome tossed a two-hit shutout to engineer the Eagles’ 12-0, three-inning Corn Belt Conference triumph over the Wolves on Tuesday night in Lake Park, Iowa.

Blome, who recorded three strikeouts to pace her pitching victory, collected a hit and walked once in two at-bats en route to two runs scored.

Bekah Rolling doubled, singled, scored twice and produced three RBIs for NSK, while Megan Rolling singled, doubled, scored one run and drove in two more.

Jordan Vaske and MiKayla Valvick each supplied two hits to the Eagles’ winning ways, with Vaske scoring twice and collecting one RBI, and Valvick crossing the plate two times.

Kelsey Mino contributed a triple to NSK’s 12-hit attack, while Shayna Geitzenauer and Abby Ingalls chipped in doubles.

North Sentral Kossuth (6-5, 4-1 Corn Belt) opens the Algona Public Tournament against Bishop Garrigan at 11:30 a.m. Saturday before taking on Algona at 2:30 p.m.

Prep Baseball

Armstrong-Ringsted 15, Graettinger/Terril 7 — Shaun Ash produced a game-leading three RBIs behind a 2-for-3 hitting performance to help steer the Mustangs to a 15-7 victory over the Knights during Iowa prep baseball action Wednesday night in Graettinger, Iowa.

Ash singled and tripled during the Corn Belt Conference game, while teammate Tyler Tonderum doubled and singled in four official at-bats to complement two RBIs and two stolen bases.

Brett Tigges contributed a hit and five stolen bases to A-R’s winning ways.

Mustang starting pitcher Ethan Eisenbacher allowed five earned runs on six hits, struck out six and walked four in five innings of work to earn the victory.

Tigges gave up two earned runs on three hits and issued two walks in two innings of relief.

Armstrong-Ringsted (3-2, 2-1 Corn Belt) plays host to Corwith-Wesley-Luverne tonight in Armstrong.
