SHERBURN — A Celebration of Life Services for Marlan D. Ebeling, 85, of rural Sherburn, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minn., with Rev. Rodney Slessor officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont, Minn.
Marlan died on Sunday evening, May 11, 2008, at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Marlan Dick Ebeling was born September 3, 1922, to Fred and Anna Marie (Diekman) Ebeling on a farm in Galena Township, Martin County, Minn. He received his education in District #51 in Galena Township. On April 26, 1946, he was united in marriage to Eileen Mae Thompson at Welcome, Minn. After their marriage they farmed near Welcome, Fairmont, Truman and in 1966 they purchased the family farm in Fox Lake Township in rural Sherburn. Marlan was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minn., and the Martin County Dairy Association. He would get up early to milk cows and helped several farmers in the area. He was a WD 45 Allis-Chalmers tractor man. Marlan had a great sense of humor where he would often enjoyed joking with you.
Survivors include his four children, Linda Chase and husband, Bruce, of Sherburn, Minn., Jerald Ebeling and wife, Deb, of rural Dunnell, Minn., James Ebeling and fiancée, Kay Sundberg of rural Sherburn, Minn., and Dale Ebeling and wife, Mary, of rural Sherburn, Minn.; grandchildren, Patrick Chase and wife, Nichole, of Sherburn, Minn., Eric Chase of Sherburn, Minn., Jeremy Ebeling and fiancée, Laura Martin of Sherburn, Jeff Ebeling and wife, Beth, of Ormsby, Andy Ebeling of rural Dunnell, Amber Ebeling and fiancée, Kurt Macziewski of Fairmont, Ricky Sundberg and Jasmine Anderson both of rural Sherburn, Sofia Ebeling and fiancée, Jeff Scholl of rural Trimont, Jordan and Aaron Ebeling both of rural Sherburn; six great-grandchildren, Collin, Elliot, Carter, Lenora, Riley and Talon; brother, Gaylord Ebeling of Fairmont, Minn.; sister, Fern Thompson of North Branch, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Leroy Poulson of Fairmont, Minn., and Alvin (Bud) Thompson and wife, Alma, of Fox Lake, Minn.; sister-in-law, Fern Thompson of North Branch, Minn.; best friend, Robert “Bob” Posivio Sr. of Trimont, Minn.; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Marlan was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eileen on March 1, 2008; sister, Margaret Krumwiede and husband, Richard; brothers-in-law, Robert and Richard Thompson; sister-in-law, Alice Poulson; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Ethel Thompson and other relatives.
