EASTON — Robert Ziegler, age 69, of Easton, Minn., died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center of Blue Earth, Minn. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, Minn. Visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2008, from 4-8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells with an 8 p.m. prayer service, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday with a 9:30 a.m. Rosary service. Father Eugene Stenzel will officiate and burial will be in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Barber Township, Faribault County, Minn.
Robert was born May 10, 1938, in Mankato, Minn., the son of Roger and Evelyn (Perrizo) Ziegler. On October 1, 1960, he married Geraldine Gorman at St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church in Blue Earth, Minn.
Robert graduated from Delavan High School, Class of 1956, and went into the Army Reserves. He drove truck for Easton Creamery and was a truck router for BE Rendering. He worked as a dairy farmer until April of 1994. He was a livestock buyer for Walters Livestock in Easton. He worked for Arends Sale Yard in Blue Earth and was Clerk for Wagner Auction Service. He was the Barber Township Treasurer, and the Knights of Columbus Treasurer.
Robert’s hobbies included going to horse races, gardening, feeding and watching birds, and collecting antiques.
Robert Leo Ziegler is survived by his wife Geraldine “Gerry”; son Mark Ziegler (and special friend Jeanne) of Fairplay, Colo., son Marty (and wife Karen) Ziegler of Delavan, Minn., son Mike (and wife Jackie) Ziegler of St. Paul, Neb., daughter Martha (and husband Vince) Bleess of Delavan, Minn., daughter Mary (and husband Mark) Pentico of Vernon Center, Minn.; 15 grandchildren: Kristin, Aaron, Josh, Krystal, Ryan, Zach, Jessica, Jill, Brady, Arika, Shelby, Bailey, Brianna, Nick, and Roger; 3 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Jada, and Jeffrey; brother Paul (and wife Marian) Ziegler of Winnebago, Minn., sister MaryAnn (and husband John) Welker of Owatonna, Minn., sister-in-law MaryAnn Ziegler of Blue Earth, Minn., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Evelyn.
