SOCHI, Russia (AP) — With her first Olympic gold medal in hand, Mikaela Shiffrin is already thinking about grabbing some more.
One day after becoming the youngest winner of an Olympic slalom, Shiffrin says she is "dreaming of the next Olympics winning five gold medals."
The precocious 18-year-old American says she knows that "sounds really crazy." But she says she's determined to leave her mark on the sport in a major way. She says setting goals high is what has helped her rise so far so fast and she doesn't plan to slow down.
Shiffrin also finished fifth in the giant slalom in Sochi. She says wants to branch out from those two disciplines as her career progresses.
The next Winter Olympics are in Pyeongchang, South Korea, in 2018.
