To the Editor: I wanted to write a letter in support of El Agave restaurant in Fairmont....

This is a great letter John. While the security breach was unfortunate, people need to understand that this can happen to anyone. We're dealing with people who have made a career out of stealing this type of information. They are very good at what they do. It is a harsh lesson for El Agave to have to learn, but all indications are that they have taken it very seriously. I am confident they will take whatever steps are necessary to prevent it from happening again (as much as any small business can anyways).

I too am a recent victim and I agree whole heartedly with John. If people realized how easy it is to actually get this information by way of a virus download or how quick someone can "guess" passwords to your computer they would throw them all in the dumpster. It can take a moderately skilled hacker very little time to "guess" your password, and since most of you use the SAME password for everything (kids B-day ring a bell?) they're into everything. This is not El Agave's fault, nor should it be thought of that way. The trash that has nothing better to do than this kind of harm are the ones that should be sought out and punished. Not a local business that has worked their collective butts off to make something they can be proud of. Thankfully I, along with many other at different area banks, were alerted as soon as it was discovered. El Agave has taken measures to prevent a repeat, and yes, I've been there since, and I'll go again.
Well said, John, this could have happened to any business here in town, and probably will again.
