How about buying a car on Sunday? Is that a law? I wonder why that one came about if it is.?

"and if your competitor is open, it's hard to stay closed"

A solution looking for a *problem*? Books, hammers, and gasoline shouldn't be sold on Sundays either... BE liquor store won't open on holidays now, even though it could. How will changing the law matter?

I just wanted to say - I am in full agreement with this article. What I am more interested in - when will they repeal the law allowing a local municipality to monopolize on liquor sales?

I sure wish somebody would put up a discount liquor store on the edge of Northrop to give Fairmont some competition!

"when will they repeal the law allowing a local municipality to monopolize on liquor sales?"

That has already happened, cities can hand out as many liquor licenses as they want. Winnebago did, but you will not see BE or Fmt giving up their "cash cow". The municipal liquor store is a slush fund, and everyone knows it. Look at what happened in Wells a couple of years ago.

Anyone who uses the term "nanny-state" should immediately be flogged in the town square. It's such lazy thinking.
