Fond memories of Fairmont. However, Mr. Newton "CD" Brown would probably have a more vivid recollection of Fairmont's pool halls back in '61.

As a graduate from FHS 1961, I remember a barber shop on Main Street, under what I recollect was a Buster Brown shoe store. (North East corner). I believe there were 5 barbers’, once you enter the door you took a seat against the windows of the down stair case. No need to take a number, the barbers knew who was next in line. Also they (the Barbers) knew who you were. Whatever your current FHS actives were, be it Sports, FFA, Speech or School Board they had their opinions. You had your choose of styles too; flat top, flat top with fender shirts, just a trim leave the side burns, or I want to look like Elvis. They knew your name, who your dad was, and what the Sentinel has to say about your last game. Almost the best times of my life, growing up In Fairmont, I treasure every memory. And thank God, he found this special place to give me values; that to this day, I try to stay true. (Please forgive the Grammar, I did however graduate from FHS 1961)
