Why stop with "children"?? After all, the liberal progressive Joe Brown ....whose HOME is out of town....wants all to enjoy the fruits of other people's labor! You fools who support this sorry excuse of a superintendent are getting EXACTLY what you deserve!! Take some time and check out "Progressive Joe's" lame history in Austin....they were PLEASED that the "greater fool" was Fairmont!!

Out of all the flat-out stupid editorials I have seen in the Sentinel, this one takes the cake. The summer heat has apparently turned your brain into pudding, Lee.

i really don't think a big deal should be made about giving a kid a free meal. c'mon. seriously? here's the bigger issue: there are 18 year old kids out there who get diagnosed with some alphabet disorder and they no longer have to work and live on disability. THAT is wrong.

Wow! It is "free" money huh? Oh, because it came from the government, right? Amazing.

I don't see much complaining about big government and the huge debt when Fairmont gets $5 million free money for an airport that is barely used. How many people is that helping?

I have a master's degree in Political Science, so I feel quite confident that I am well-read, but thanks for the "homework." It is ridiculous to expect to effect change on a grassroots level considering the structure of our current government. I read your comments on every article and you (and a few other regulars) complain about every positive helping hand that is given in this community. I am just tired of it. You can't complain about the economic condition of our middle class and then complain that the government is trying to help. Granted, spending is out of control, but I'd prefer to spend less on foreign affairs and the military and a little more on the development and well being of youth that will be expected to take over one day. And true to character, as soon as someone dares to disagree with you, out comes the claws.

You are totally right. Definitely we should let these kids go hungry all summer because then their parents will learn how to suddenly get a job and be more responsible. As long as we keep our youth down and out maybe they will grow up to be magically productive citizens. Stick it to 'em, I say!
