Lerner is an attorney. What did anyone think she would do? Of course no career civil servant is going to come forward and claim "ownership" of this issue.

This is exactly why the government funding needs to be slashed by at least 10%. It would weed out non-performers and coat-tail hangers...

Time will tell; but I suspect she took the Fifth to avoid giving answers that could be cited in later court proceedings.

After all, answers to some questions can be construed in many ways, such as the old "Have you stopped beating your wife" chestnut.

I did think the South Carolina senator on the committee had a good point, though. He contended that by making even the statement she did, she had in fact testified, thus waiving her privilege and opening herself to what amounted to cross examination.
