I feel very sorry for the family who lost a loved one in this accident but do we really need to spend the time, energy and tax payers dollars to prosecute a 94 year old man? Just saying.....

So sad and unfortunate for all involved in both families. About 10 years ago I had a man with alzheimers pull out in front of me. The accident was not serious, but his wife was injured and he didn't even know what happened. Their children stepped in and required their father to give up his drivers license. Its difficult, but even if your mind is intact at that age, your reflexes are not. It's unjust to put the general driving public at risk. Someone has to step up in the family and require their aging loved one to give up driving.

Wow! This is a very difficult case. Elderly people want so much to retain their independence for as long as they can. But as is so often the case, they do not realize how much their driving skills have fallen to the way side.

"Someone has to step up in the family and require their aging loved one to give up driving"

I can still recall the day my Dad had to physically take/ remove my 78 y/o Grandfathers DL from him. Saddest thing I ever saw my Dad need to do.

The state does has procedures for removal of DL privileges, though it is often up to family members to enforce/ enact them.

Jail and fine for a 94 y/o? Glad I don't need to make that decision.

I as well remember telling my mom was time to stop driving. But it isn't only old folk that are the problem. Yesterday I had 2 different cars run stop signs right in front of me driving a semi. One girl was looking at her phone and god knows what the other one was doing. Pay attentin to what you are doing when you drive.

I WAS FORTUNATE AS MY PARENTS KNEW ENOUGH WHEN IT WAS TIME TO QUIT DRIVING. WHETHER YOU LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN OR NOT--MAYBE A TEST FOR SENIORS AFTER A CERTAIN AGE SHOUD BE CONSIDERED.
