If you reduced your prices I bet that attendance would go back up to $1,100. I don't go anymore because of the cost.

What do you think the cost should be?

Expecting more (entertainment) for less is not the answer. Actually, it's the opposite that will save the track. Increase the payouts (which yes - means paying more at the gate) for the racers and you'll get better car counts. Larger "quality" car counts usually translates to better crowds (as long as the track is not in bad shape). You gotta pay to play! Hats off to all racers out there who lose their *** entertaining us.

The price at the gate was $10 for adults last year - which is the cheapest in the area. Jackson, Algona, Mason City, Britt, etc are all $12 at the gate. Where else can you go for 3 hours of entertainment for $10? As far as payouts go, check the payouts - Fairmont's track payouts were the same or similar to the surrounding tracks as well. For example, compared to Jackson, Fairmont's payouts were higher in all classes that both tracks run. Compared to Redwood Falls and Arlington, they were very similar - higher in some classes, and lower in others but within $5-10 in each. And compared to Algona, Mason City, and Britt tracks, the payouts were the same in Fairmont. Car counts have gone down in Fairmont for 2 major reasons - its dang expensive to race, and there are some drivers going to a different track that also runs on Friday nights now. Since this is a public site, let's hear from the community, what do you want to see at the Fairmont track?

I'm not a big race fan, but for the sake of our community I hope this gets worked out. Otherwise its one less thing for us and especially our youth to do. What does Fairmont really have anymore?
