FORT DODGE, Iowa — Rebekah Rolling’s lethal aluminum bat and Allie Ingalls’ accurate pitching arm propelled North Sentral Kossuth into Wednesday’s Iowa Class 1A state softball consolation championship game at Harlan Rogers Park in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Kirsten Adams’ powerful hitting and an airtight defense then put the No. 7-ranked Eagles in the driver’s seat against the No. 4 Woodward-Granger Hawks during Wednesday’s Game 2 battle for fifth place. Woodward-Granger cleanup batter Savannah Bice’s game-tying RBI single, followed by teammate Katelyn Buckalew’s game-winning gap-finding drive with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, however, helped the Hawks scratch out a 4-3 victory over the Eagles for the consolation crown. “We won in dramatic fashion behind Bekah’s solo homer in the bottom of the sixth,” NSK mentor Art Ingalls said in reference to his lineup’s 1-0 consolation semifinal win over the No. 6 Preston Trojans on Wednesday morning at Dodger Diamond in Fort Dodge, Iow.
