FAIRMONT — More bad golfing weather ended up being pretty decent news for the Fairmont boys squad and Blue Earth Area’s Jon Trasamar.
The Cardinal boys team placed second overall with a 338, while Trasamar claimed top medalist honors during the Fairmont Invitational on Saturday at Interlaken Golf Course in Fairmont.
Windom Area held off the host Cardinals by two strokes, while Trasamar chalked up another career win by besting Fairmont freshman Myles Pfingsten by one stroke.
Trasamar shot a 38-36-74 with three birds and eight pars, while Pfingsten ended up with a 38-37-75 with two birdies and 10 pars.
“When we started the day we were hoping for a lower score, but conditions worsened. ... Overall it’s a big confidence booster going into the conference meet Thursday and the subsection next Monday,” said Fairmont head coach Brad Haugen.
