Crops out, deer abound

While driving back from Blue Earth, with the setting sun shining in my eyes, I glimpsed a form trotting across Old 16. The deer stopped when it got to the shoulder on the other side and looked back at me.

“Don’t come back this way,” I prayed.

Thankfully, the deer bounced down the ditch.

With the farmers taking the corn out of the fields, the deer are losing their cover — this is the second one I’ve seen crossing Old 16 recently. Make sure you’re paying attention.
