Home work

June 1, 2012 - Kylie Saari
I haven't posted lately and I will tell you why. I am having work done on my house, and I have very little to say that has been positive while it is happening.

I have heard people complain about their construction projects taking forever/messing up the house/costing WAY more than expected.

And mostly, I have thought, "Boy, it must be rough to have all this new stuff done to your house." Then I would secretly roll my eyes and wish I could have work done on my house.

And then it happened to me. See I wasn't getting a brand new kitchen put in, or having the master bedroom remodeled. My foundation wall collapsed, leading to a Pandora's box of other issues. It has been weeks — months even! — involved having our front yard completely dug up (thank you 100 year old pipes for rusting away under there!), our home left wide open to the elements (a tarp covering the gaping wall sized area should keep out the torrential rain, right?), our entire basement's contents moved up to the main floor (I am thinking of holding a moratorium against laundry baskets), and the MUD, oh, the mud.

Don't even get me started about how fun it is to run a house of four people with no water.

So I have tried not to regale you with each and every sordid detail. I have resisted the temptation to tell you exactly how I feel about my home becoming someone else's worksite. And while I have been able to keep the negative vibes out of my stories, I knew my blog would suffer.

So as the work comes to an end, (Oh, Please let it be coming to an end!) I should be back with you shortly, blowing rainbows and sunshine your way.
