Girl Scouts

You may have heard about Indiana State Rep. Bob Morris and his refusal to sign a proclamation honoring the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts.

Apparently he is concerned the Girl Scouts are a wing of Planned Parenthood and are pushing a homosexual agenda.

If they are, it must be only in the secret inner circle ala the Freemasons in the Davinci Code.

I was a Girl Scout, my daughter is a Girl Scout. I have never been told to have an abortion or look in desire on a woman by my troop leader. I have never observed my daughter being told those things. I do recall putting on a play for Christmas. And camping. I recall sewing as well. And selling cookies (I am still doing that by the way, if anyone needs any). My daughter took a tour of the Salvation Army and made a Christmas bough at the greenhouse.

On the other hand, I think people should stand up for their beliefs, and if Morris really believes the Girl Scouts are not a good organization, he is right not to sign the paper. Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean you have to. I just think maybe shouldn't have gone public with his less than researched ideas.
