To Powerball or not to Powerball?

February 7, 2012 - Jodelle Greiner
Saw the Powerball jackpot is over $200 million. Should I buy a ticket or not?

I’ve been ticked off at Powerball since they raised the price from $1 to $2. I haven’t bought a Powerball ticket since the price change. Okay, $2 is not a lot, granted, but still, they RAISED THE PRICE!!! THEY DOUBLED IT!!! It’s the principle of the thing.

I switched to buying MegaMillions tickets after a store clerk confirmed for me that the price for those is still at $1. Hey, if I win $70M in the MegaMillions, even losing half to taxes, I could still be quite comfortable for the rest of my life. Does it really matter where the windfall comes from?

I’m sure the state of Minnesota doesn’t miss my measly buck for the Powerball and they’d never know if I bought a ticket for the big jackpot.

But I would.
