| | Livestock on the roadDecember 27, 2011 - Kylie SaariIf there is one thing that never ceases to amuse me in this area it is reports of livestock on the road. I always make sure to add it to the cops report and always chuckle as I do it. Horses, cows, pigs, you name it, it find it funny in a city-girl, this-actually-happens sort of way. So you can imagine my delight when driving to a council meeting in Truman the other day when I encountered a real, live pig in the road. It wasn't on the highway, so there wasn't danger to many drivers. What amused me the most was that the freed pig was doing pretty much exactly what pigs do inside their confinement barns. Standing around. I think many animal activists would want to see an animal escaped from the bars running wild through the fields or rolling around in the mud. But this big fella was just standing there, looking around. I called him in to the cops so no one got hurt, and the dispatcher was pleasant but seemed a bit tired of this particular call. "We have been advised of the situation and officers are out looking for it." I wonder if others find this funny or if it is just me. What do you think when you hear of animals out on the road?
