| | Metrodome goingDecember 9, 2010 - Jodelle GreinerAll this talk of the Metrodome going makes me a little sad... and makes me look back with a bit of shock and realize how many years have passed. Here’s some trivia for you: name the five winners of the first state high school football finals to be played in the Metrodome. I can name one — Truman — because I was there, along with a lot of other Bluejay fans when the Jays won the Class C division of Prep Bowl I in 1982. We won it on a field goal that barely went over the crossbar. It was much more comfortable to attend that game in the climate-controlled interior of the HHH Dome than it was to watch the Jays earn the berth to the state title by defeating Houston in -30 degree weather, but that’s another story. Knowing the old Dome is nearly 30 and is about to go the way of Metropolitan Stadium, which it replaced, it’s hard for me to realize so many years have passed. It doesn’t seem like so long ago we were jumping up and down in those brandnew stadium bleachers celebrating that win and now they’re talking about ripping out those seats. A lot of mixed emotions.
