I want my hour of sleep back!

March 15, 2010 - Jennifer Brookens

I've been up for nearly two hours already, my alarm just went off, and that's on top of not being the least bit sleepy until the clock said midnight.

This is the one week out of the year when I really hate daylight savings time. There's one week (in November) when I love it for that extra hour and the rest of the time, I don't even think about it.

So you're probably doing the math and thinking, "Then why are you up early? Doesn't it work the other way around, that you should be wanting to wake up later?" Why... Yes, It Does!

Take it up with "The Boy." More specificially, one of the Three Stooges kitties that decided to stowaway in the Boy's bedroom last night. As Daddy responded to his 5 a.m. wake-up call, all insanity broke loose as the Boy started caterwauling at the top of his lungs. Sure enough, an insane cat bolted from his room. At this point, I'm still asleep, but am being woken up by a mix of Boy-bellowing and a cat three-for-all battle royale taking place in the middle of the hall.

That, of course, woke up The Girl. But after some muttered cursings into my pillow, Dad wised up and got The Girl to go back to bed. But The Boy was not having it. The end result was that at what we're used to as 4:30 in the morning, I was shivering on the downstairs couch as The Boy stole my blankets, watching a Baby Einstein video. Twice.

Happy Daylight Savings time. Now gimmie my hour of sleep back!
