Turns out I called it ...

January 26, 2010 - Lee Smith
Vikings' fans got a season-full of Brett Favre's fantastic play ... and a playoff letdown on Sunday. I was pretty sure I had written something about Packers' fans woes with Favre's playoff performaces over the years. I was right. Here is what I noted on Oct. 13 of last year:

"Ah ... there is this hope and the reason Favre is wearing purple and not green and gold: The living legend has gagged enough times in the playoffs to make one understand Packer GM Ted Thompson's reasoning for parting ways with Favre. The interception in the NFC title game against the Giants two years ago was atrocious. Favre also put up an errant pass against the Eagles a few years prior. That gave the Eagles the game. And let's not forget his five-interception doozy against the Rams.

When all is said and done, Vikings' fans may learn the hard way what Packer fans knew: Favre is great. But often, not great enough."

It's too bad, really. For all the records he holds, Favre has not been to the Superbowl enough. And he has had chances. Maybe next year? Well ... those "next years" are dwindling, to say the least.
