December 26, 2009 - Jennifer Brookens
The best thing about Christmas and heavy snowstorms turning this into a four-day weekend? I can find myself putting time into something as frivolous as looking for cheat codes for my daughter's new video game. This coming from a woman who still hasn't assembled a baby album for her now two-year-old son, not to mention the loads of clutter-busting, laundry-folding and other "have to" junk that I complain never gets done.

But yes, I just realized I spent the last hour and a half online looking for cheat codes for my daughter's iCarly Wii game she got for Christmas. And even though I got to the screen that allows you to enter codes, pages and pages of Google searches have yielded no results. Not that my daughter's disappointed, since she's hooked on Wii Bowling instead. (Basically because she can beat both her dad and me at it!)

It's very rare I get a quiet afternoon like I have right now. The Boy who usually undermines any effort at organization on my part is down for the count (too much excitement and Christmas whimsy for him, I guess). The Girl takes breaks from Wii Bowling to put on more of her Glamour Gal make-up kit and the husband... well, he's stationary.

I think I only have a day-and-a-half of loafing, until I hear the Boy's rebel yell from upstairs. And then I remember why I never have time to loaf in the first place. Time to play servant again...
