Lay out some bills, jerk

Film director Quentin Tarantino has a humorous streak that is creative and dark. If you've seen movies like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs or From Dusk til Dawn, you know what I mean. At the beginning of Reservoir Dogs, the cast is sitting around a coffee shop talking about tipping the waitress. Actor Steve Buscemi — Mr. Pink — says he doesn't tip, then he goes into his explanation of why. No one else can stomach his reasoning, so they force him to throw in on the tip before they leave. Now I know for a fact that there are a good share of Mr. Pinks in the Fairmont area. Just ask those who wait tables and work their butts off. It's high time those of you who have enough money to go out to eat take time to remember that the service is part of the package. Yes, if the service is terrible, take that into account. But if the service is good, make sure you add 15 percent or 20 percent for the waiter or waitress. On a $20 tab, that's $3 or $4. It's called having class, and it's something to strive for.

Perhaps as natural as it may seem to you Mr. Smith, I believe your forceful writing should not persuade me into giving money to an establishment that should be paying the waiter/waitress more dough in the first place. As much as you argure against any kind of taxes, how in the world can you be speaking out of both sides of your mouth. I bet you know someone close to you who counts on these tips from individuals to make or break a night. One should reconsider the owner paying them more in the first place.
