October 23, 2009 - Meg Alexander
The love bug has struck me once again, and this particular bug's name is Pomplamoose!

Pomplamoose is a self-described "indie-rock" duo that's making its name through YouTube, with 42,693 subscribers last time I checked. Their cover of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" was featured on YouTube, which is how they first caught my attention. Not being a fan of Beyonce, I'm not sure what made me click on the video, but man am I glad I did.

Their covers are creative and so well done I think it might physically hurt for me to hear some of the originals again. They create harmonic beauty and intrigue in songs that I've never really noticed before. And their original work is even better -- not only does Nataly Dawn have the voice and face of an angel but the woman can write as well. The cherry on top of this wondrous cake is watching Nataly and her talented quirky bandmate Jack Conte at work in what they describe as videosongs, "a new medium with 2 rules."

Rule No. 1: No lip syncing.

Rule No. 2: Whatever you hear, you see.

Check them out!
