Feel like being a writer?

For as long as I've worked at the Sentinel, and longer, we have had some very dedicated columnists who keep people up to date on the happenings in several of our small towns. Shirley Skogerboe writes about the Sherburn area, while Sharon Rosen covers Ceylon. These two women have made an invaluable contribution to the newspaper and their communities.

When I first began working here 12 years ago, we also had a Truman columnist. We would love to have someone step forward and take up that role again. Likewise for the other smaller towns in the Fairmont area. The main purpose of these columns is to provide details about regular and special community events, as well as about the people who help make our small towns special places to live.

If anyone out there is interested in providing a weekly update about their town, please call me at (800) 598-5597, or (507) 235-3303. You can also email me at editor@fairmontsentinel.com. We do offer payment to our columnists who are willing to commit to regular, weekly updates.
