When it rains, it pours...

May 2, 2014 - Jennifer Brookens
Even though we're seeing our first peek of sunshine since this time last week, I'm still feeling the effects of being poured on.

Right now, we have a torn-up upstairs bathroom, a half-collapsed fence (thanks, windstorm!), an oven with only one burner that's operational (unless you want to try broiling a frozen pizza... which I learned does not work well), and my second laptop bit the dust in the middle of paying bills last night. Apparently, all of the warranties expired last month, as well.

Then I have to get used to a new normal. After years of having the house to myself (somewhat) in the mornings, next week the husband starts a new shift and will be getting ready and leaving the same time as the kids and I. This will take some getting used to, since he has been gone in the early mornings since 2002. Corralling the kiddos to get dressed, fed, lunches packed and out the door in time is enough of an adventure some days without the husband adding the, "Honey, where's my belt? Where's my phone," and what else he manages to forget where he left it. Perhaps it will be good, but it will take some getting used to. But without my laptop and second bathroom, things could get a little testy... Let's hope the repairman is able to finish the upstairs bathroom this weekend!
