Yes, Jodelle, there ARE pink tractors!

June 24, 2013 - Jennifer Brookens
I had to laugh out loud when I saw co-worker Jodelle Greiner was puzzled about seeing a pink tractor at the Sherburn Holiday Festival. If you want to learn more about the pink tractor — and the young man behind the creation of it — make sure to check out our Hometown magazine, "Hometown Youth," coming out in Tuesday's paper.

Just a sneak preview here, the young man who rebuilt the pink tractor and numerous others is Kristian Melson of rural Trimont. A recent MCW graduate, Kristian has been welding and rebuilding tractors and other farm equipment since his early teens. The pink tractor is technically his sister's, but I've seen him and some of his buddies driving it in pictures on their Facebook pages. Melson is an incredibly talented guy, and I was impressed with him and the other youth I had an opportunity to interview and get to know for this magazine. I know my fellow writers for this section were also impressed with the kids they got to meet. We hope you, the readers, will enjoy the stories as much as we enjoyed writing them. And thank you to all the youth and their families who were willing to share their stories with us!
